Land Analyst
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary: Elk Range Royalties is an active buyer of mineral and royalty interests in the US. We have partnered with NGP Energy, an investment firm with an over 30-year history of investing in the oil and gas business. This provides us with strong financial backing in the form of patient capital with a long-term horizon.
As a Land Analyst, you will be on the front end of Elk Range’s deal flow work alongside our Business Development and Land Team. You will learn how to source, frame up, evaluate and close mineral and royalty transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Calculate mineral and royalty ownership estimates using well, tract, unit, lease and regulatory data in a timely manner.
Help identify, confirm, and estimate mineral and royalty ownership for outbound campaign efforts.
Support and utilize offsite contractors to maintain databases containing well, tract, unit and ownership records with accurate and up-to-date information.
Support all phases of Land in the evaluation and due diligence processes for acquisitions.
Work with data development team in implementing new land-focused software features to aid in day-to-day work processes.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (PLM degree preferred)
2-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as a land analyst, lease analyst, division order analyst, landman or similar role
Working knowledge of Division Orders, Legal and/or Title experience preferred
Basic to intermediate understanding of land tract legal descriptions, well/unit NRI/NRA calculations, O&G mineral/royalty interest types, and chain of title
Familiarity with various States (OK, TX, NM, UT, CO, LA, PA, ND, WV), Federal and BLM regulations preferred
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
Must be goal-oriented, approaching projects with a sense of urgency and drive
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to seek out, implement and adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes
Knowledge and competence with computers and various software such as MS Office suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) – experience with Enverus and QGIS a plus.
Must have the ability to seek out, implement and adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes
AAPL membership/RPL is a plus
