Elk Range Royalties is an active buyer of mineral and royalty interests in the US. We have partnered with NGP Energy, an investment firm with an over 30-year history of investing in the oil and gas business. This provides us with strong financial backing in the form of patient capital with a long-term horizon. The company is currently investing capital out of its second equity commitment from NGP under Elk Range Royalties II, LP. Elk Range Royalties III, LP is expected to be launched in early 2025.

Position:
As an Acquisition Associate, you will be sourcing grassroots/organic opportunities to purchase minerals and royalties through outbound engagement with mineral and royalty owners, mineral companies, and entities via cold calling, mailing campaigns, and other business development strategies. As a member of the business development team, you will work alongside our technical team and land management team in order to generate opportunities to acquire assets. You will learn how to source, qualify, and close mineral and royalty transactions. This role offers valuable experience, exposure to diverse skill sets, and growth with the company.
Essential Duties:
Drive Acquisitions: Engage in the acquisition of mineral and royalty interests through proactive outreach initiatives, including cold calling, mass mailing, and targeted prospecting, in collaboration with business development team members.
Coordinate Outreach Efforts: Strategically organize, plan, research, and manage follow-up communications with landowners via email, phone calls, and outreach methods.
Ownership Verification: Assist in identifying, confirming, and estimating mineral and royalty ownership for outbound campaign efforts.
Transaction Management: Under the guidance of your manager, prepare offers, negotiate with landowners, and successfully close transactions on mineral and royalty properties.
Due Diligence Support: Support all phases of Land in the evaluation and due diligence processes for acquisitions, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments.
Skills:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (previous experience in land management is a plus).
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in sales or acquisitions, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
Lead Generation: Proficiency in cold calling and lead generation.
Adaptability: Ability to manage and thrive in situations with a certain degree of ambiguity.
Attention to Detail: Strong detail orientation with the capability to multitask while maintaining accuracy.
Goal-Driven: Demonstrated goal-oriented mindset and approaches projects with a sense of urgency and drive.
Time Management and Organization: Excellent time management and organizational skills, coupled with a background in customer service.
Technological Proficiency: Ability to identify, implement, and adapt to new technologies, workflows, and processes.
Technical Skills: Proficient in computer usage and various software applications, including the MS Office suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with Enverus, Oseberg, and QGIS is a plus.
Professional Affiliations: Membership in AAPL and/or possession of an RPL certification is a plus.
